Flooding In Pakistan
Crisis Response
Severe Flooding and Monsoons IN Pakistan
In September and October 2010, north-west Pakistan was hit by massive monsoons and the worst flooding in that region in over 80 years, leaving over 20% of the country covered in water. Over 1600 people are believed dead, with up to 20million affected or displaced by the storms. Infrastructure and livestock have been completely destroyed in the flooding. 850,000 homes have been destroyed and over 6 million people have no access to food, water, shelter and medicine.
ERDO is on the ground working in partnership with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and other agencies to provide immediate relief to the people of Pakistan. We are providing critical resources, including:
- Food Kits for over 10,000 families (wheat flour, rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, tea)
- Non-food Relief Items like tents, mosquito nets, kitchen sets and gas cylinders for cooking
- Hygiene Kits (soap, towel, nail cutter, comb, tooth brushes, tooth-paste)
- Emergency Health Services including mobile health teams in the affected areas
