DONATE NOW TO ERDOFeeding Families in Afghanistan

Woman inAfghanistan

After forty years of war natural disasters and extreme poverty, people in Afghanistan are in desperate need!

Conflict continues to impact families and displace hundreds of thousands of people in need. In the province of Bamyan there are over 52,000 internally displaced people who have fled conflict for the security of the mountain region in Bamyan.

However, Bamyan is one of the most disaster-prone regions in Afghanistan. With mountains all around, the province experiences droughts and flooding. It can be a difficult place to find food, and now, 61% of the population in Bamyan are living below the poverty line.

Through our partners, our Christmas and New Years goal is to raise $50,000 in food assistance that will be matched 4 times by the Canadian government.

Our work will provide families in three districts of Bamyan with the ability to purchase food. 2,350 families have been selected in the most at-risk communities e where there is a greater ability for women to receive and use funds to purchase food. Each family will receive $90USD per month for a six-month period.

By giving through ERDO, you will be helping families like Razia’s purchase food. Razia is a thirty-five-year-old Afghan mother, who fled her home with three young daughters and a son. Together the family sought refuge in a village, making a shelter in a spare room of a mosque. The conditions of the space were challenging to live in, with no electricity, gas or water supply. In the winter, the concrete room became very cold. Razia had no way to gain a decent income to support the food needs of her family or change her living situation.

Thankfully, through our partners, Razia was able to receive much-needed food and essential items. This year, you can give a gift to a family like Razia’s. Matched by the Government of Canada 4:1, your donation will go toward helping over 2,000 families.

Thank you for a gift of any amount. Your support is changing daily life for Afghan families in need.
