Today, we are asking those who are able, to give generously and help support the most vulnerable people during this unprecedented global pandemic. In addition to COVID-19, some of the countries where we are working are experiencing floods, drought or locust infestations. All of these things contribute to extreme hunger.
ERDO is already working with partners to distribute food, but much more is needed. Your donation today will provide additional food and hygiene items for families, and protective supplies for field staff to keep them safe too.
Here's what we've accomplished in Honduras so far:
Honduras is still in complete lockdown. People are allowed out of home once every two weeks based on the last digit of the passport ID. Many people are struggling without work and fear is growing. Our partner @soh_honduras and @kmizen are continuing to pay their staff and have been prepping 275 bags of food each month for CCP families. At the end of July, they gave food, fresh fruit and cleaning supplies to 340 kinder-age kids!Thank you so much for supporting COVID-19 crisis response programs.
South Africa had some of the most drastic COVID-19 lockdowns in the world. Schools were closed and people were not allowed to be on the street, told to isolate indefinitely.Restrictions have now been lifted and ERDO has partnered with PAOC global workers Felix & Cecelia Chiriseri to give food to 100 families. Each family was given food for over 2 months, and hygiene items. Local women were hired to sew masks for each family, providing an income for themselves. With your help, we supported child-headed families, elderly widows caring for their grandchildren, single parent families and families who had lost incomes due to COVID-19!
ERDO's Jeff Hackett recently interviewed our PAOC global worker partner in Thailand, Matthew Price. Matthew Price said, "From the 461 families we work with, we identified the most vulnerable. Some were still in a position where the economy wasn’t as hard hit where they were, or they had farms so they could produce their own food. We really wanted to identify those who had the greatest and most immediate need, so we identified 293 sponsored children and their families who needed extra help. With extra funding from ERDO we were able to provide food parcels, and be able to practically say, “We are with you. We are in your corner and you’re not alone.”

The ChildCARE Plus staff in Ethiopia has started a food assistance program for students in the menstrual hygiene management training program and their families. This program teaches girls sustainable production, business management and sales of menstrual hygiene products. All food is being and awareness training is taking place while social distancing, with plenty of room between those receiving food and COVID-19 prevention training.
