ERDO ChildCARE Plus child sponsorship in Honduras

ChildCARE Plus in Honduras

Working with PAOC Global Worker Kathy Mizen, ERDO is assisting over 230 children through ChildCARE Plus child sponsorship through Schools of Hope Ministry in Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras.

ChildCARE Plus fills a critical need in the lives of children who are wishing to go on past grade six when the cost of education increases beyond what most families can provide.

Through a $41 monthly donation, a child can attend school and be spiritually nurtured by our on-the-ground ChildCARE Plus community representatives.

Classroom Nutrition: School Feeding Program

This School Feeding Program is run through local schools, currently running the CCP child sponsorship program, and is designed to subsidize the 7-month food deficit in the government program by providing much needed nutrition through a CSB drink for 1,440 children each morning.

This project focuses on the children of the urban poor living on the outskirts of the capital city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The schools are in the mountainous range that circles Tegucigalpa. The majority of the households (70%) in the area are single female headed and live on less than 5 dollars a day.

Clean Water Project: Biosand Filters

This bio sand filter design is a plastic container with layers of sand and gravel that cleverly filters out impurities, providing fresh clean drinking water for children. Both water and sanitation are essential for child health so we’re really excited about bringing this simple technology to help families in Honduras.Project goal:• To provide 300 bio sand filters to individual homes and install two filtration systems in elementary schools.

Your gift of $250 will provide a bio sand filter and health training to one family.
Your gift of $2,800 will provide a filtration system for one school.
